Checklist for Thinking Aloud Test

  1. Preparation:
    1. Start Thunderbird and check screencast software.
    2. The screencast software should not record the mouse trail and record with a lossless coding.
    3. Check that everything is ready in test room (camera, microphone, internet connection, water).
    4. Check the settings of the external video recording ar correct (720p (1280×720) MP4; 25 FPS).
    5. Check if you have a backup AA batteries for the microphone.
    6. Do a test-recording to the external hard drive.
  2. Opening:
    1. Go through orientation script and set the stage.
    2. Ask questions on background questionnaire: facilitator asks and fills out form.
    3. Ask user to read and sign the consent form.
  3. Test Session:
    1. Move over to testing area (computer).
    2. Start computerised session recording.
    3. Provide any prior training.
    4. Provide training of thinking aloud.
    5. User begins with tasks.
    6. User should download the nightly build.
    7. If the testuser doesn't look automatically at the "Web of Trust" (sign key) part, tell him to do so.
    8. User finishes last task.
  4. Closing:
    1. Interview: how was it?
    2. Structured interview questions.
    3. Individual interview questions arising from test.
    4. Feedback questionnaire. User fills out form.
    5. Thank participant, provide any remuneration.
  5. Wrap-Up:
    1. Summarise thoughts about this test.
    2. Organise data sheets and notes.
    3. Check and archive session recordings.
